Today I started the “Life Journal Reading Plan”. Well, for “truth in advertising” I restarted the plan today. I was about 1/3 of the way through it but had made a half-hearted attempt at it. The plan became a checklist and I found myself skimming through each day just so I could check bible reading off my list and feel better about my walk because I had spent “time in the Word.”
I decided to start it over and actually journal along with the reading, which was a wonderful experience. I’d like to share that journal here in the hopes that it might be a blessing and encourage you today. For more information on the plan or journal process check out the Life Journal site here: http://www.enewhope.org/nextsteps/journaling/
Gen 1, 2
And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years,
God created light. He did so to separate the day from the darkness. The lights in the night sky are to serve as reminders of time, sacred reminders. Jesus is the light of the world. He was brought to the earth as a reminder of God’s creation, love, and mercy. His light is a sacred reminder and guidepost for believers.
When I am living in darkness, when I am not on the path of peace, what light am I using to guide my steps? If it’s anything but the light of the world then I am bound to stumble and fall. I must rely on and relish in the rich hope, peace, and mercy that comes from the light of God, from Jesus.
Lord thank you for your light. Your light is truth. Your light is hope. Your light is a guide for me when I am lost. Forgive me for those moments when I don’t look to your light as my guide, my peace, my hope. Thank you for this blessed reminder of your light. I pray that I let go of my control, to humble myself in the sight of the Lord so that he might lift me up and draw me closer to him. I pray that this peace and joy would radiate out of my life into the lives of those around me.
